How do you ensure the frictionless movement of people; sit-in customers, take-away customers and staff? All moving around in a relatively small space, we needed to ensure the flow of people is seamless and obvious.
The space also needed to provide dual-function; a day-time coffee and sandwich spot as well as an evening event space. Ease of use by the operator and as a private-hire in order to maximise the value creation given the city-centre location.
Optimising the CapEx where possible by using low-to-no maintenance materials, low-energy LED lighting scheme, limited end-of-day checklist. Small details, given the same consideration as the overall aesthetic of the space.
Environmental noise alters brain function by triggering chronic stress, neuro-inflammation, and autonomic imbalance. Spending an hour catching up on work whilst waiting for the train over a coffee can either make you feel energised or exhausted. The answer for how to achieve for the former is good design.
